INGREDIENTS

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • Zest of 1 blood orange
  • 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • 2/3 cup heavy cream (plus more for brushing)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup Naturipe Berries (blueberries, raspberries, or mix)
  • Optional glaze: juice from 1 blood orange + 1 cup powdered sugar

DIRECTIONS

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and zest.
  3. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk cream, egg, and vanilla. Pour into dry mix and stir gently.
  5. Fold in berries. Turn dough onto a floured surface, pat into an 8-inch circle, and cut into 8 wedges.
  6. Place on baking sheet, brush tops with cream, and bake 18–20 minutes, until golden.
  7. Drizzle with blood orange glaze once cooled.

Pro Tips:

  • Keep butter very cold for flaky scones.
  • Swap in Naturipe blackberries for a bolder flavor.
