In-Field Cooling

History in the making — Bringing the store and field one giant step closer to each other.

In February, we began utilizing new technology in Oxnard, CA that enables freshly picked strawberries to be cooled immediately in the field. The process reduces the natural post harvest respiration period of berries which enhances quality and extends shelf life. Once the Oxnard fresh harvest commenced the portable technology was transferred to the Watsonville, CA district where it is again being utilized for strawberries in another Naturipe field. This is a unique, first time innovation for the berry industry which is drawing a lot of attention and visitors to the site.
