August 7, 2013

DIY facemasks are a great way to give your skin a much needed boost of healthy antioxidants. They are easy to make, inexpensive and the natural ingredients are gentle on the skin. With the abundance of summer berries it is easy to pick up them at your local store and make your own natural facemask! Check out these delicious DIY summer berry facials!

Strawberry Face Mask from Petit Elefant

  • 5-6 ripe strawberries
  • 2 T ground almonds
  • 3 T yogurt

Using a coffee grinder or blender grind the almonds into crumbs.  In a separate bowl mash the strawberries together (really well).  Once the strawberries are a good mashed consistency, add yogurt and almonds and mix the whole thing together until you have a nice consistency.

Spread the strawberry mixture all over your face and let it sit for about 20 minutes

Wash mask off with lukewarm water.

Blueberry Facial from Natures Knock Out

  • Raw  Organic Blueberries – About 12
  • Extra  Olive Oil – 1 tablespoon
  • Raw  Organic Honey – 1/2 tablespoon
  • acidophilus – 1 teaspoon or 1/2 teaspoon probiotic powder
  • almond  meal – 1 teaspoon

Mix ingredients together in a mini blender.  Apply to face, neck, and  hands for 10 minutes.  It actually tastes pretty good too, but remove it  with a warm, damp cloth.

Blackberry Mask from Style Mom

  • 1/4 cup of fresh blackberries (you can also substitute strawberries, or blueberries as well as they are one of the foods that contain natural salicylic acid, a common ingredient found in acne medications)
  • 1/4 cup sour cream or non-flavored/plain natural yogurt

Mash together the blackberries and yogurt or sour cream. Spread on face and leave on for 10-15 minutes. Rinse with warm water and mild cleanser if needed.

Raspberry Face Mask from Faces by Ren

  • 3-4 Raspberries mashed well
  • 1 Tbs. Plain whole fat yogurt (greek is the best for masks as it is thicker)
  • 1 tsp. raw honey
  • 1 tsp. finely ground oats
Mix all ingredients well and apply to freshly washed, patted dry skin.  Leave on for 15-20 minutes. Rinse well with warm water, splash with cold water, pat dry and apply favorite moisturizer.

*Before applying the masks on your face, make sure to test it on your hand to see if your skin reacts.*
